At what was a brilliant day of entertainment in the grounds of Delapre Abbey, Joseph Marion Hilton Bunn was declared The Bard of Northampton. Joe impressed the audience with his vocal talent and the judges with his statement of bardic intent. Joe has great plans for the coming year and looks to be a worthy succesor to last year's winner Donna Scott, firmly putting the Bardic Picnic on Northampton's yearly, social calender and securing the role of bard in the minds and hearts of local people.

‘The Search for Northampton’s New Bard Begins’

On Saturday, 26 June, the Bardic Chair Northampton will begin looking for a spoken word performer to become Northampton’s next bard.

They will be holding a free day at the Fishmarket open to poets, storytellers and acoustic musicians interested in entering the Bardic Chair competition to become Northampton’s official Bard.

After much toil, confusion, diddle-daddle and never-to-be-underestimated public relations work, a date has finally been set for our annual picnic of the bards!!!
