RAISING THE AWEN at the Labour Club Wed 16th November Great Success..again!

This week's Raising the Awen was lucky enough that the man of "music stories hats loops and double-guitar mischief innovation," Ash Mandrake was driving through Northampton and made his presence known.

Ash played three songs and sold a few CDS.  We now hope that he'll join us for the annual Bardic Picnic, 2011, details to still be confirmed.

Raising the Awen, Northampton's premier open-mic, spoken word forum for aspiring and established poets, storytellers, acoustic artists and indeed any one with a voice returns this month with an eclectic eclipse special as we eclipse our history to resurrect the ancient Celtic of Spirit of inspiration and put a call out for a new Bard of Northampton.

RAISING THE AWEN , the Bardic Chair Northampton's once monthly open-mic forum for the spoken word, stand-up comedy, acoustic music and pretty much anything to do with vocal expression, holds its final event of the year this WEDNESDAY 22nd from 7.30pm, downstairs at THE LABOUR CLUB, CHARLES ST.with a BIJOUX BARDIC BANQUET. As last year we'll be seeing the season in with a Banquet of sorts but this year the meal is optional on a first come first served basis and will consist of a reasonably priced two course vegetarian/vegan Christmas dinner and can be paid for on the night.

In what we hope will be a series of themed fundraiser events at THE LABOUR CLUB, this month’s Raising the Awen is replaced by an evening of dark tinged Scorpionic cabaret and murky mayhem which we have entitled ‘A STING IN THE TAIL!’
