October 20: Raising the Awen at the Labour Club in Northampton!

Raising the Awen at the Labour Club, Northampton

Wednesday, October 20th: 8pm - 11pm

Dear All,

This month's irregular, regular, open-mic,forum for the spoken word and all things oral, brings us to the threshold of Halloween, Samhain; the Celtic New Year and unbelievably Raising the Awen's second birthday!

Yes thanks to your continued support we have been 'at it' for two years now and to celebrate we are suggesting the theme of 'PORTALS' ('Too late to look before you leap. As you have sown, so ye shall reap!') New vistas await in the darkness of Winter and we all stand poised to leap into them, so bring your poems, stories, songs, rants and raves about other worlds and the view through the Veil.

On a more mundane note,we really appreciate your continued support and hope to carry on in the same vein but unfortunately we have, as some of you know found ourselves in debt after this year's Bardic Picnic so we are tentatively asking for a suggested donation of £2 (well heeled) and £1 (skint). We hope this doesn't offend, but it all goes to making sure we can continue to support everyone's voice by continuing to provide a platform at bardic events throughout the year.

We are also planning a benefit gig for the bardic coffers mid-November called 'A Sting in the Tale' (it being a Scorpio Moon), which will feature an eclectic mix of tricky tales, pokey poetry and sexy sounds all for a reasonable figure of £3.

Also this month the Labour Club is doing a recession meal deal of £1.50 a meal if you book in advance. For menu details and advance booking phone the Labour club any evening after 5.30 on  01604636254.

Other than that we look forward to seeing you for a celebratory Awen from 8pm, upstairs at the Club and hope you all feeling inspired! Happy New Year! Anything goes, All welcome! WORD!
